Artist Statement

JC spent his early childhood in Brussels, Belgium, where the blend of cultures and landscapes first sparked a quiet fascination with observation and nuance. That sensitivity now lives at the heart of his photography practice.

Working in collaboration with nature, JC creates abstract images that are rooted in presence. Each photograph begins as a meditative ritual - an intentional slowing down, a deep tuning in. Through light, texture, movement, and stillness, he uses the camera to heighten his senses and connect more fully to the world around him.

As someone who lives with generalized anxiety disorder, JC turns to photography as a form of healing. The process grounds him. By focusing on the subtle rhythms of his environment, he is able to quiet the internal noise and transform fleeting sensations into visual expressions of calm and clarity.

His work is not about capturing what something is, but rather how it feels. Through these abstractions, JC invites others into that same space of reflection, stillness, and presence.
